Letter of Invitation to Join the Alkebulan Confederation of Herbalists (ACOH)
Date: August 20, 2025
To: Heads of Traditional Medicine and Herbalist Associations across Africa
From: The Founding Committee of the Alkebulan Confederation of Herbalists (ACOH)
Subject: Invitation to Unite Our Alkebulan Traditional Medicine Heritage Through ACOH
Dear Esteemed Leaders and Custodians of Alkebulan Traditional Medicine,
Greetings from the heart of Alkebulan, the ancient and true name of our beloved continent. We write to you today with profound respect for your invaluable work in preserving and advancing traditional medicine within your respective nations and communities.
Our Vision: Reclaiming and Empowering Alkebulan Medicine
For millennia, the people of Alkebulan have relied on the wisdom of traditional healers and the healing power of indigenous plants and practices. From the sacred groves of West Africa to the ancient healing traditions of the Nile Valley, from the spiritual medicine of the Kalahari to the herbal knowledge of the Ethiopian highlands, our continent possesses one of the world's richest repositories of traditional medical knowledge.
Yet, despite this extraordinary heritage, Alkebulan traditional medicine has not received the global recognition, scientific validation, and institutional support that it deserves. While the East has systematically developed and internationally promoted Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the West has built pharmaceutical empires based on knowledge often derived from indigenous sources, Alkebulan's traditional medicine practitioners continue to operate in relative isolation, lacking the infrastructure and collaborative networks needed to fully realize their potential.
The Alkebulan Confederation of Herbalists (ACOH): A New Dawn
We invite you to join us in establishing the Alkebulan Confederation of Herbalists (ACOH), a continental umbrella organization that will unite traditional medicine practitioners, herbalists, and healing associations from across our great continent. ACOH represents more than just another organization—it is a movement to reclaim our rightful place in global healthcare and to ensure that the wisdom of our ancestors becomes a cornerstone of modern Alkebulan development.

Why We Need Continental Unity
The challenges facing traditional medicine are continental in scope and require continental solutions:
- Knowledge Loss: Many traditional practices are disappearing as elder practitioners pass away without adequate knowledge transfer
- Lack of Standardization: Without unified standards, the quality and efficacy of traditional remedies remain inconsistent
- Limited Research: Individual associations lack the resources to conduct comprehensive scientific validation of traditional practices
- Market Access: Fragmented approaches limit the ability to develop and market Alkebulan traditional medicine globally
- Regulatory Challenges: Varying national regulations impede the cross-border exchange of knowledge and products

The Power of Unity: Learning from Global Success Stories
Consider the remarkable success of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which now generates billions in revenue globally and is recognized by international health organizations. This success was achieved through:
- Systematic research and standardization
- Government support and investment
- International marketing and education
- Integration with modern healthcare systems
- Protection and development of intellectual property
Africa possesses medicinal plant biodiversity that far exceeds that of China, yet we have not achieved comparable recognition or economic benefits. Through ACOH, we can change this narrative.
